Script Synopsis
Schadenfreude is a German word meaning 'to take pleasure from other people's misfortunes'. The film opens with a typical weekend breakfast chatr show called 'Sally on Sunday'. She is interviewing an Austrian Professor who explains the dark nature of the five forms of Schadenfreude, which are then played out in detail in the subsequent five acts.
The film itself is set in New Street Junction, a ficticious and fantastical place bizarrely boasting the most sign-posts anywhere in Britain - and ridiculed by a TV Show called 'The Scoop'.
Jeremy O'Reilly - the maliciuos, self important TV presenter of the show - has returned to further demolish the reputation of the dischevelled bunch of locals, as part of his 'Clean up Britain' crusade. However, when he winds up in their local pub, an unexpected turn ensues as the local's play a mischievous prank, which unfortunately goes horribly wrong - and culminates in the murder of the beautiful Paige Boston, a local actresss.
How could this happen in front of the world's press? What exactly happened? Who did what? A media frenzy kicks off as journalists hunt for answers, the media gossip and accusations fly of corruption and deceipt. Welcome to a week in modern media and the question "Who killed Paige Boston?"
